In the present media-driven world
where writers have the potentials to become billionaires, more and more people
are becoming interested in the art of writing. Writing entails more than just
throwing an amalgamation of arbitrary words in one big pot to form a roughly
made hodge-podge piece. It is an art and should be treated as one. Each person
has his/her own writing style and technique different and distinct from others,
like thumb marks which not the same are for any two people in this earth.
One’s style and technique however is
not static. It is dynamic – it evolves as a person grows in experience. It is
tantamount to a person’s development. Writers should always contest themselves,

writing style come to a person without his/her conscious knowledge and if that
is so, it might be hard for the change to become immediately accepted. If ever
that happens to you, orientate yourself to accept these changes because they
happened due to your unnoticed development. Though it might take some time to
do so, when it happens, you will be able to reach to terms with yourself more
and you will come to realize how much more you understand your own psyche.
When writers incorporate ideas of
self-subversion into their writing, the pieces come out to be either parodies
or pastiches. Sometimes it is necessary for writers to write parodies of
themselves and their persona in order to see in third person perspective what
they really are. People all see each other differently and in order for someone
to see himself/herself in full view, one must look at a mirror, which might be
exactly what a parody is. Pastiches, however, are necessary to a writer’s ego.
They build a writer’s confidence, hence fueling him/her to write more.
When you have started, to writer
either parodies or pastiches of your earlier self, then you would know you have
already outgrown yourself. Do not be scared if you realize that it already
happened to you because it is a fundamental component of the process of
evolution. Every good writer should undergo this fruition sometime or another.
It is essential to constantly refresh and renew one’s ideas because they become
stale at some point in a writer’s career. Differing one’s point of view might
be the only way for a writer to thrive thru the ages.
However, if you think you have not
undergone self-subversion, do not fret. It is not advisable to rush things
because self-subversion should be taken at one’s own pace. Do not give up just
because you have been trying for a long time to further your writing style and
technique, it will come to you in due time. Forced evolution might not feel
natural and hence might be detrimental to you instead of constructive. Just
take your time to examine yourself and write what you want to. Re-read your
earlier works and if you have time, rewrite them again and see the difference
between the you from before and the you from now. You do not have to read a lot
if you do not want to or do not have the time. Sometimes, to be able to write
good pieces, you just have to attack it and not be hesitant. The rawness gives
a good feel to your writings at times. You will know that you have already
undergone the desired change when you can finally laugh at your former self and
